Stories of Jewish migration from Poland to Norway
In the decades around 1900, as millions left their homelands to go west in search for better lives, a number of Polish Jews migrated to Norway. Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Oslo Jewish Museum set out to discover more about these individuals and their families. Where did they come from? Why did they go to Norway? And what happened to them when they arrived?
Through archival research, historical books, memoirs, and visits to Polish shtetls, we sought answers to these questions. This web exhibition tells some of the stories of the Polish Jews who went north.
